Eduardo PazIP & Management Control Director
Eduardo Paz is currently the Corporate IP Director for the Tenaris group with responsibility for the protection of intangibles worldwide as well as licensing the same. He took over this responsibility 5 years ago with the aim to align the IP strategy and procedures with the Tenaris Group strategy. With this objective Eduardo is heading different projects which will help with the cultural change that the groups needs in terms of IP protection as well as a restructuring project for the companies that manage the IP for the group. Recently this project made Eduardo and his whole team relocate from Buenos Aires to Amsterdam, a quite challenging experience.
Previously he had been advisor to the CTO of the group, helping the CTO with the re-engineering of the R&D program and expenditures which have grown steadily during the last 10 years. He also has an extensive financial experience with different responsibilities both at Corporate and individual Company level.
With the new EU Directive 2016/943 coming into force in the different EU countries, companies have to adapt their internal guidelines and procedures regarding Trade Secrets. Many corporations have followed US guidelines till now. How to address this change from US to EU directives in an effective way is a challenge we are currently facing. Moreover, corporations should also focus on proof of ownership of the Trade Secrets, a relevant issue when it comes to litigation about the same.
